Because Sakura needs some lovin' too.
I'm honestly getting sick of all the Sakura-bashing I see going on. The people who hate her seem to hate her over the most pedantic reasons. Because she used to be a bitch (so did Gaara, but no one still holds it against him, do they? See, there's this thing called character growth...). Or they say she's ugly (¬_¬). Or that she's weak (hah!). Or that she's too hung up on Sasuke (when actually, Naruto's obsession is worse than hers). The main problem people seem to have with her is that she dares to have breasts and a vagina.
Not cool, people. Not cool.
I personally think Sakura's one of the more credible characters. She's extremely useful, she cares deeply about ALL her teammates, and she'd rather die than stand back and do nothing. She's realistic, which is more than can be said for most other characters, as all her flaws are very human. And as I said, she needs some acknowledgement too since we can't all be born a genius or with a monster in the belly. Besides... she kicks ass! XD
Anyway, why an axe? Well, she's been featured several times wielding axes, and this particularly one is based off the axe Naruto is carrying on the cover of volume 33. It had her name on it, so I'm guessing she's allowed to borrow it. Also it kinda represents her fighting style... which is very smashy-smashy. The word on her arm is her favourite phrase.
